TopSolid's PDM supports the import of external files without conversion such as .docx, .pdf, .avi, etc., .
An external file must have a file extension; files without an extension are not allowed, and the file extension must not exceed 20 characters.

From version 7.20 SP3 and 7.19 SP11, a message clearly indicates when the 20-character limit is exceeded; previously, an SQL error was returned: “String or binary data would be truncated...”.

From version 7.21 (TopSolid 2027), the extension must not exceed 255 characters. The 255-character limit corresponds to the maximum number of characters allowed in Windows for a file.
